This Naxa NPB-256 is very similar to the NX-250 but is just better in every way though it does cost about $20 more it is well worth the extra cost. Both boomboxes can play SD cards, USB thumb drives, and MP3's on a cd. I found the boomboxes were capable of reading 4 GB SD cards and USB thumb drives, though I didnt have a larger size to test, and I only tested the USB thumb drive on the NX-250. Also I never tested the MP3-CD capability but I've never had a problem with boomboxes playing these in the past. Expect to be able to fit anywhere between 250 and 1,000 mp3's on a single 4 GB SD card or USB flash drive, or between 50-175 mp3's on a cd depending on the bitrate and length of the songs. Since playing from SD cards or USB thumb drives does not require any mechanical moving parts you can expect the batteries to last alot longer then with playing a cd, though obviously the radio probably provides... After having a car stereo that could read a flash stick I became spoiled on having hundreds of songs at my fingertip without screwing around with CD discs. This player has great sound and almost all the features I wanted. Downside: You can't circulate through the different albums nor does it read them by album. In this cases it does not matter so much to me because I just loaded several lullaby albums for the kids. If you were using it at work it might be a problem...but it does have a shuffle mode . At just a little over fifty bucks though you can't complain. Great sound. (Oh and none of the other players (including the very expensive ones) have the search album feature either. Use your Ipod or MP3 on the AUX wire and then you can manually pick your album off your players control. No big deal. |
